There are two pieces of advice that are very important for all new boxers. The first is to use exercises that focus on shifting and manipulating your own body weight. Push ups, free weights and chin ups are all exercises that will tailor your workouts for maximum effectiveness.
But many of the machines at the gym can actually do more harm than good by training you to perform motions that are unnatural. So be sure to try and keep it natural as much as possible.
The second thing is to keep your workouts as intense as possible. It does not matter how much time you spend in the gym, it's far more important what you do with that time. The winner of a match is usually the quicker fighter, not the stronger athlete.
So if you're finding it hard to stay intense for a long period of time, minimize the amount of time you spend in the gym. But use that shorter time period to absolutely shred your muscles.
